SPEXS is a collaboration of research teams across four universities, led by Professor Gerald Buller of Heriot-Watt University, working in partnership with seventeen commercial and governmental organisations and funded by EPSRC.  The project’s aim is to address one of the key aspects of single-photon detection – that of increasing the wavelength region of detection into the Short-Wave/Mid-Wave Infrared to enhance a range of rapidly emerging applications, for example in quantum technology, automotive lidar and bio-photonics.  The complementary expertise of the partners will be harnessed to provide solutions for a range of key future sensing requirements.
